Is it just us, or are the warmer temps and sunshine getting you excited for the arrival of summer? It certainly gets our Minnesota-based Menu Freedom team excited about summer feeding programs.
As the school year draws to a close and summer activities begin, it’s time to spread the word that when school’s out, free summer meals are in. As you know, countless children in the United States today don’t get the healthy food they need. During a regular school year, we can reach many of these children with programs like free breakfast, lunch, and after school meals. But during the summer, when schools are closed, those meals disappear.
If you’re planning to participate in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) or Seamless Summer Option (SSO), we have a few NEW printable resources to help you get the word out to parents and families about your program.
Free Summer Meals flyer to spread the word about summer foodservice with customizable text to enter your program information. Simply enter your information in the text fields. Print and post around your community. Pro tip, you can also save the PDF as an image (File > Export To> Image > JPEG) and post the graphic to your social media pages.

School’s Out & Free Summer Meals Are In! Cafeteria Connection helps communicate the details of your program to parents and caregivers.
