It’s nearing the end of 2021 and you may be looking at next year’s budget to see if there’s money available for capital expenses. If your kitchen equipment is tired, old, or on the fritz and that budget is feeling a little tight, now is the perfect time to apply for grants to offset capital expenses for new equipment.
Here’s a few to consider:
$30 million in funding allocations are available through the FY 2021 National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grants for School Food Authorities. State agencies competitively award equipment assistance grants to schools participating in the NSLP. Check your state agency for submission requirements.
School Nutrition Foundation Equipment Grants (due January 31, 2022, at 11:59 pm EST)
School Nutrition Foundation and industry partners have partnered to provide new kitchen equipment to deserving districts. Grant applications are now open and eligible applicant can win equipment grants, each worth between $20,000 to $100,000 of equipment. Applications and photos must be submitted by a school nutrition director who is a member of School Nutrition Association, with no eligibility requirements for a certain percentage of free/reduced eligible students. Grants will be awarded in March 2022.
